✴︎ Community Features ✴︎
These community features—the Maker Series—were an opportunity to connect with makers in the Duckfeet USA customer base and shine a spotlight on their craft + passion. The goal of this series was to highlight community stories, building connection, and subtly feature popular products.
Responsibilities: outreach, interview, photography, videography, copywriting, editing and publishing.
“A project of adventurous women, one catamaran and the Atlantic Ocean”—at Duckfeet USA, we were introduced to Kiana and Laerke through photographer, Elise Wilcox (photo credit). It was so inspiring to interview these makers—learning about their passion for ocean preservation, their representation of women in the sailing world, and to tell this story alongside Elise’s work.

Women & the Wind

Just a ride up the coast, myself and a Duckfeet USA team member met with Logan Rackliff, 5th generation lobsterman and owner of the Rope Co. Surrounded by fresh sea air on the family lobstering dock, we were invited to take a look into this family-run business, learning about Logan’s background and what goes into crafting each handmade rope door mat. A joy of this project was seeing how these products vibrantly and thoughtfully reflected the elements of nature, just like the beach we were standing on. An added bonus was wrapping up the day with Logan and his family as we shared a lobster role lunch together.

“Meet Logan Rackliff of the Rope Co. in Tenants Harbor, ME. We took a mini road trip up the coast to meet Logan, owner and 5th generation lobsterman, to learn more about their colorful handmade rope creations. Known for their rope door mats, the Rope Co. is inspired by the natural beauty and spirit of coastal Maine. We love that with each product, thoughtfully & carefully handcrafted in Maine, you're able to bring a piece of that coastal life to your own home.”

For this community feature, in collaboration with Duckfeet USA, I met with tiny house builders, John & Rachel, to step into their world of tiny homes and tiny home building. Visiting their tiny home, nested on shared farmland, I took a look inside their world as craftspeople and talked shop about their newest project: the Icosahedron House. The themes of this story were craftsmanship, living with the land, and bringing care and thoughtfulness to the things we own.

Jess Morgan,
Residential Gardener
For this feature, in collaboration with Duckfeet USA, I highlighted the work of Jess Morgan—designer and restorer of local lands & gardens. On an early fall morning, we shadowed one of Jess’ residential visits to capture a bit of her day-to-day & to learn more about her passion for working with the land on a community level.

"You know, we get caught up in all these big picture things, and just watching what happens on a small scale on a daily basis and how it progresses is really interesting and really grounding."
